Key Programs and Services

The Wheat Marketing Center (WMC) exists on the technical crossroads of the international wheat industry, providing technical training and grower workshops, innovative research, product development, and crop quality testing services. WMC focuses on promoting U.S. wheat by demonstrating its quality and functionality in Asian noodles, crackers and biscuits, tortillas and flatbread, and other baked products. Pilot scale production lines (pictured above), state-of-the-art quality testing equipment, and rich technical expertise provide great value to our state wheat commission partners, wheat industry stakeholders, and millers and food manufacturers around the world.

This Week: December 1-5

This week WMC proudly hosts growers and industry representatives from Washington, sponsored by the Washington Grain Commission.  During their time in Portland, visitors participate in hands-on product demonstrations and quality evaluation tests in our lab.  In addition, the group will observe a lab demonstration from the Federal Grain Inspection Service, and tour the Mondelez Bakery and the Columbia Export Terminal.  They will wrap up their time in Portland at Shaver Transportation, with a guest speaker from Pacific Northwest Waterways Association, to learn about the vital role that the river transport system plays in the export of US grown wheat.
